Puget Sound Honor Flight’s mission is to transport Western Washington veterans to Washington D.C., to visit and reflect at memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.
In March of 2013 a varied group of Puget Sound area individuals, who realized they all had passion for the same cause, came together to create Puget Sound Honor Flight. With the help of Honor Flight Network along with countless hours of support, advice and guidance from our sister hub, Inland Northwest Honor Flight and Honor Flight Chicago, they put in motion an inaugural trip seven short months after forming. With over 200 WWII veterans from Western Washington already on a waitlist, Puget Sound Honor Flight committed to giving these heroes their “One Last Mission”.
Puget Sound Honor Flight’s inaugural flight took place on October 12-14, 2013, right in the midst of the government shutdown. To say there was a bit more excitement than we had planned for, is an understatement. However, we succeeded. Everyone had a good time and some even made the national news!
As we celebrate our 10th year, we are thrilled to have taken more than 1,500 local veterans from the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam service eras ... along with an additional 1,100 guardians and volunteer staff to support our heroes! We simply could not make these trips available without the support of our local business community, individual donations and valuable partnerships.
